Khidir Ahmed
Khidir is currently a junior studying computer science. In the past, he's built internal security software at Home Depot and is now an incoming software engineering intern at IBM on the z/OS security team. Apart from coding, you can find him lifting and watching movies with friends.

Why tech@nyu?
I really enjoy the community and how amazing and thoughtful everyone is. I believe that tech@nyu gives everyone an opportunity to learn more about tech through the many events, socials, and programs hosted. Personally, I’ve done the Mentorship and Tech Treks programs, and both have been very enjoyable and led to long-term connections I truly value.
What's your journey into (your career/goal)?
I’ve been passionate about computers at a young age but never really knew what I wanted to do. I did some programming in high school, and I learned more about how programs actually work and how impactful/significant they are. That’s when I knew I wanted to pursue a career in tech and software engineering.
Advice to your younger self?
Keep being your authentic self.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I see myself traveling the world and working remotely as a software developer on an impactful project.
What do you do outside of work?
I like to lift, play video games, watch movies, and try new restaurants. I also love to attend hackathons in my free time!
