Haley Ngai
Haley is a junior studying Interactive Media Arts and minoring in Computer Science because she likes making physical + digital things and knowing how they work. She’s been a UX designer, engineer, and researcher across three startups. Outside of moving shapes to get paid, she’s either sleeping for 12+ hours or casually switching between guitar and piano when she feels the itch.

Why tech@nyu?
Very grateful to have met so many lovely, funny, goated people at tech@nyu. It’s been fun building a locked-in community where we can make projects together and actually enjoy working with each other.
What's your aesthetic?
soft retro modern + clean minimalistic mix + pinterest inspirations.
What do you do outside of work?
I play songs on piano by ear and guitar for fun. Grocery shopping for ground beef, steak, chicken, bread.
Advice to your younger self?
I learned that it’s better to appreciate what I’m naturally good at instead of forcing myself into something that doesn’t fit. I kept trying to push myself into STEM, but my strengths were really in design and creativity. I wish I had embraced that earlier instead of fighting it. Take it and scale it.
