Fahim Hussain
Fahim is a sophomore studying Computer Science at CAS. He did a first-year fellowship at Jane Street where he developed an appreciation of all things systems, and will be interning at Meta this summer. Outside of class, he enjoys citi-biking around Manhattan, reading fiction, and listening to music.

Why Tech@NYU
I really wanted to immerse myself in the tech scene, not just where it is right now but where it is going, with a group of people who care and can make everything just a little less overwhelming.
What do you look for in program members?
I look for people who are driven and who care about the problems they wish to solve. Above all though, I value kindness and humility. From my experience, I’ve found that the best ideas come from when you have the self awareness to question a fundamental aspect or assumption about the problem you wish to solve, and that can only happen if you have the humility to step back, re-evaluate yourself, and maybe ask a friend for help! The ability for us to choose our battles is a superpower and it is something AI won’t be able to do (hopefully for a while).

What’s one thing you would tell your younger self?
I would probably tell them to give more grace. To themselves, to their friends, everyone. It is everyone’s first time living too.
What is your mindset?
Don’t compare yourself to the type of person you strive to be. Instead, ask yourself if you are working like someone who is on the path to becoming that person. Trust in the power of consistency and time.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I want to be working on a problem that I care about surrounded by my best friends.
